Rodney's Story
Life
After Morningside I graduated from BYU, with a short time after my sophmore year in Central America as a Mormon Missionary.
Married a girl from Lennox. Happily married.
I spent 30 years with Western/Delta Airlines retiring in 1994.
Father of four adult children. Grandfather of 8. I enjoy "non reving" around the world. Your airline friends will explain that one. There are few countries that I have not visited. My favorite country is Argentina. I also like the Orient.
Currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah and Oakley, Utah. Love to hear frommy former friends at Morningside. ) Oakley is a rural town and our home is above 7,000 feet sea level Lots of snow but cool in the summer time.
Workplace
Worked for Western Airlines for twenty years and Delta Airlines for ten years.
Currently publish newsletter for Delta retirees about airline business
Check out SLC Delta Pioneers on the internet.
Worked in Los Angeles and Salt Lake.
Also taught In SLC in short I have always been a workaholic. I love work.
I retired in 1994 and purchased four homes for my four children within two blocks of my home. The entire family gets together at least once a week for family meals and play. We vacation together at times.
My children work so myself and my wife do a lot of baby sitting and shuttling grand children to lessons and activities.
Finally left the sandwich generation. My parents lived with me for 15 years until they passed away. The only reason I retired was to take care of them. I do not regret it. It was the best thing I have done in my life.

I guess I was a late bloomer you would not recognize me now. No hair but that does not concern me.
The picture with my wife and my self is from our trip to Antarctica.
Check out the whale bones in the background., Delta flys into Argentina. Took a former East German Ice Breaker in to Antarctica. We used inflatable Zodiak boats to land on the Penguin rookeries. Stuffed my Parka with fresh fruits and vegetables and traded for items at the Chilean weather station. I still speak fluent Spanish so I am like a fish in water.
Update September 5, 2020
This virus is really cutting my style. In the past we would fly places on a moments notice. Oh I forgot to tell you that free flying is a benefit from 30 years employment with Delta. Now I am concerned about flying even if it is free because of the Virus.. Oh well.
Update 02/01/2021
One of the worst things of the pandemic is not hanging out with my grand children. Before the pandemic I would take them to “Grandpa Camp” at our place in the mountains about ten minutes from Park City. For the younger ones we have Bow and Arrows, Red Rider BB Guns!, kites, fishing pond and small 4X4s. For the older ones we have larger 4X4s ,snowmobiles, BBQs and fire pit. For all of them we have satellite TV and electronic games. We are practicing Social Distancing so my adult children and their families go separately with out my wife and my self.
I figure we have another three to six months to avoid the virus. I understand why my parents were worried about the Polio epidemic when we were young.
Stay safe and healthy
