Patric's Story
Life
Earning a B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, CAPT Roesch graduated from the University of Florida in 1982. He received his commission through Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS) which culminated with his designation as a Naval Flight Officer on July 7, 1984 after completing Advanced Radar Training at NAS Pensacola, FL. Completing F-14 Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) training at VF-101 in November 1985, CAPT Roesch received the ÂTop Scope award as the number one RIO graduate. He was also designated a Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance Pod System (TARPS) RIO prior to reporting to the ÂWorld Famous Pukin Dogs of VF-143 based at NAS Oceana, VA. He deployed aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) while flying in the F-14A with CVW-7 during Gulf of Sidra operations. Selected to attend the Naval Postgraduate School (NPGS) in Monterey, CA he earned a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in June 1991 and an invitation to join Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society. Prior to departing NPGS CAPT Roesch completed Aviation Safety Officer School. Following graduation CAPT Roesch re-qualified in the F-14 and reported to the ÂJolly Rogers of VF-84. Selected for entry into the Aerospace Engineering Duty Officer (AEDO) program in 1993 CAPT Roesch reported to the Weapons Test Squadron, China Lake where he was assigned as the Air to Air Weapons Project Officer and Advanced Systems Group Re-configurable Man-in-the-Loop Simulations Project Officer. In 1996, CAPT Roesch reported to the F-14 Program Office (PMA-241) as Deputy Program Manager for Reconnaissance. During this tour he managed, from concept to deployment, TARPS Digital Imagery (DI), Fast Tactical Imagery (FTI), and TARPS Completely Digital (CD). CAPT Roesch checked into the Joint Air to Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) Program in 1999 as the Director of T&E, Aircraft Integration, Modeling and Simulation and U.S. Navy APMSE. During his tenure he was awarded the David A. Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award. Additionally, during this tour he graduated, from The University of Tennessee, with a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management. In 2003 CAPT Roesch reported to NAVAIR WD as the Executive Assistant to the Commander. CAPT Roesch has logged over 2500 hours in the F-14A and F/A-18D while accumulating 224 carrier arrested landings. His personal awards include an Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (1st Gold Star) and Naval Achievement Medal (1st Gold Star). CAPT Roesch and his wife Laura have two children, Hans and Karl.
