Roger Beall:  

Life Roger A. Beall grew up in Campbellton, Florida. He graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and from Valdosta State University with a Master of Public Administration. He enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1980. He completed his initial training, reporting to USS ALWIN for duty prior to commencing nuclear field training. Roger began his nuclear training in Orlando, Florida, with his prototype training in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Following completion of nuclear power training, he reported to USS PHOENIX. During his tour, PHOENIX completed a world cruise, a Mediterranean Deployment, post-delivery overhaul, and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation. In January 1985, he reported to the Precommissioning Unit for USS HELENA, where he remained until the ship was delivered to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for service in the fleet. In January 1989, he was transferred to USS HAWKBILL. HAWKBILL completed a Western Pacific Deployment, and upon his return, transferred to USS QUEENFISH due to a manning shortage.
