Roger's Story
Life
Roger A. Beall grew up in Campbellton, Florida. He graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and from Valdosta State University with a Master of Public Administration. He enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1980. He completed his initial training, reporting to USS ALWIN for duty prior to commencing nuclear field training. Roger began his nuclear training in Orlando, Florida, with his prototype training in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Following completion of nuclear power training, he reported to USS PHOENIX. During his tour, PHOENIX completed a world cruise, a Mediterranean Deployment, post-delivery overhaul, and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation. In January 1985, he reported to the Precommissioning Unit for USS HELENA, where he remained until the ship was delivered to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for service in the fleet. In January 1989, he was transferred to USS HAWKBILL. HAWKBILL completed a Western Pacific Deployment, and upon his return, transferred to USS QUEENFISH due to a manning shortage. e overhaul in Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, California. Transferred in August 1991, he was assigned nuclear power instructor duty aboard MTS-635; shortly thereafter he was selected as one of 215 participants of FY 1993 Enlisted Education Advancement Program. Following graduation from College of Charleston in December 1995, he reported to USS MARYLAND. RogerÂs personal decorations include the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Volunteer Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Marksman Medal, Battle Efficiency ÂEÂ Ribbon and Sea Service Ribbon. He is married to the former Felicity Joy Scott, of Donaldsonville, Georgia. They have three children, Felisa, William and Marcus.
Roger retired from the Navy in January, 2001.
These days, I'm working the information technology world, I'm certified MCSE, MCT, MCDBA .. all the stuff Microsoft certifies you as, and CISSP certified. AFter leaving the Navy, I went to work for Entre Solutions in Savannah, GA, and from there have moved on over to the Chatham County - Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission.
