Roger's Story
Entered National Guard in 1967, completed Guard duty in 1971, graduated from Ohio State in 1975. Met my wife in Ohio Stadium at a football game. She graduated in Microbiology and has worked at Mt. Carmel Hospital for 30 years. I began teaching at West Jefferson High School and started the Wrestling Program there in 1976. Continued to teach and coach there for 17 years, then left to teach at Westland High School, took a one year leave of absence to get a Masters in Counseling. Then worked at Grove City High School as a Supervisor for Special Needs students for three yeas before returning to Westland as a Guidance Counselor. Remained in that position as well as Head Wrestling Coach for...Expand for more
ten years until I retired n 2005. I have two sons, Casey, as of this writing is 35 years of age, and Andy who is 30. I have two great daughter-in-laws and three grandchildren under the age of 3 with another boy arriving in January 2012. Have been very fortunate to have a great wife and family. Very blessed in coaching with having the experience of coaching my youngest brother, Mike to a state wrestling championship in 1985, and also my son Andy to a state championship in 1999. Developed many lasting relationships through coaching and teaching but most of all it was a great privilege to be a part of the lives of so many young people. It was a great run, not much I would do different.
