Roger's Story
Life
I was born at a very early age.......
After graduation early from James Logan High School I worked as a draftsman in the Bay Area. for 6 months or so. In the fall I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah with my parents and got a job there doing drafting and design. While working full time I attended the University of Utah studying Computer Science and Engineering stuff. I got married to Laura Halverson, had my son Christopher and got divorced after 5 yrs. (we are still friends and her new husband is a great guy).
I graduated from the University with a degree in Physics in 1989 and by then I was doing Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and System Administration on Unix systems. (Yeah, I'm a nerd)
I married Lynette Goudy after graduation. She had 2 children, Joshua and Amanda from her first marriage. We then had Michael and our family was pretty complete.
We moved to Memphis, Tn. in 1991 and dug the blues and BBQ. I took a job in 1996 for HP in Mountain View, Calif and commuted from Memphis to Mountain View and stayed with friends a lot. My family stayed in memphis to sell the house. That was sort ...Expand for more
of my "homeless with a tie" phase. At the end of 96 I figured enough is enough so I transferred to Atlanta, the house sold and we've been living here since! Life is good!!!!
I have done a lot of fun stuff along the way. (I'm not a total nerd!) I still play guitar and have been in and out of bands for a long time. It's a great hobby but a tough career. My oldest son, Chris, plays bass and has done a couple of gigs with me.
I do a lot of hiking, camping and backpacking. I do some Kayaking and mountain biking. I went through a phase in Utah where I flew hang gliders for a few years. I do some snow skiing when I get back to SLC to see my folks. I've been riding Harleys since 92 and I go to a few rallies in the southeast. I just need to figure out a way to be able to make money playing and then I'm all set!!!!
We are also big on Halloween at our house. We do a small yard haunt and get a lot of kids though each year. A couple of years ago we kept track of how many kids came through and we had almost 800!! I am always scheming to add new things and step it up to the next level.
That's about it for now!!
