Roger's Story

Life A life bio? Well, I better start now and it might be ready before the next big reunion for the class of '79. (Sorry I missed the last one, but as is the case with most things......I didn't have a clue it was happening, and was probably just too busy doing really silly stuff). Well, lets start this bio from where I left off with the rest of you.... 1979-1983 .....after cruising through 77-79' at LRHS (grade 9 at Saint Agathe HS) with probably the worst marks of any student in the grad class of '79, I decided the military was the best place to go and "hide" for a few years. It was, to say the least, a grand adventure of bar-hopping and meeting some of the nicest people I had ever encountered all over the world. Unfortunately, my dad passed-away which made everything else a little less....well, complete. 1983-1985 .....I went back to school to try and replace the forgotten knowledge (read killed brain-cells) no doubt lost at the various parties between Bruce Armstrong's and Sean Mollitts' place. I kept playing drums & flute just enough to keep practice. I still partied.......but tried to remain concious. 1985-1994 .....I started to work for a couple of major information services groups in Canada, and the U.S. I soon burned-out from too much work, travelling and partying. I Worked in California for a while, and made a mint of money. I then moved back to Montreal and promptly blew my savings on anything that has wheels. I kept playing music, and listened to 1970's rock that drove everyone in earshot bizerk. I had a kewl set of drums.......but my neighbors hated them. 1991-1997 .....finally settled down and met a California beach girl. I moved to Ottawa from Montreal, changed jobs and got married all in the same week. I had to sell everything that I couldn't take with me. (buh-bye kewl drums......I heard t...Expand for more
he neighbors cheering) Time went by, I worked hard and finally discovered after 7 years of marriage that I should have considered someone for intelligence as well as looks. Got divorced, moved to London Ont, and changed jobs all in the same week. Was pretty stressed-out....but re-discovered partying......and I felt better. 1997-2001 .....after a brief lapse in time, I met wife number two and thought I was pretty happy. Unfortunately, my job started to suck badly, and I thought I'd try to change things up and work at a research company. Well, that sucked too. Eventually, September 11, 2001 changed everything. The economy went for a dump, the company went bust and I was out of work. Around the same time, I eventually decided that marrying for brains without looks wasn't a good choice either, and ex-wife number two was added to my growing list. 2001-today ...I've come full-circle. I'm back in the military, working as a manager in Recruiting. (Geee, didn't I just do this??) Although this job sucks at times, I've learned to finally balance the fun things in life, with the other stuff. Although I have no biological children, I've had the opportunity to live through my family & friends kids. I have ex-wives, ex-pets and ex......well, just about everything else on that list too. Despite everything, I've had an awesome time and I’m still going on wild adventures. I still play drums......but I've lost my flute somewhere. I'm back in school still trying to replace lost knowledge...and, I’m still looking for the woman who has the perfect balance of looks to brains….. …and, I’ve discovered that life is pretty crappy without a good party every once in a while. If you're ever in the London area, be sure to drop by and we'll have a beer or two....or a good laugh about something we can hardly remember. :-)
