Roger's Story
I've had some requests to share my story, post pics, etc. I have some pics in my album; maybe I'll post some more later.
Lewis--Lewie--Louie (sounds like a great title for a song--anyway, Lewie Cobler asked that I tell my story. Well, here's a story that involves Lewie.
The only time I can remember talking directly to Lewie was in Boot's drive in; remember Boot's? I had taken my date home and decided to cruise Boot's on my home. Lewie was walking around in Boot's lot. He stopped me and asked my name; I told him. He asked my height and weight; I told him; about 5'10" and 135 lbs. (I might have weighed 140 if I had just finished a Boot's burger and basket of onion rings.) Now, Lewie had been drinking a little. He took hold of the driver's window ( it was half way down) of my '62 Chevy (anybody remember the car?) and said som...Expand for more
ething like "you're about my size, wanna fight"? I'm pretty sure Lewie had at least 25 lbs on me. He let me know what he would do to me if I would just get out of the car. I was just reaching for the tire iron I kept under the seat of my car when, luckily, a mutual friend, Steve Black, Hale '64, who was with Lewie, pulled him away from my car and told me I should go. I say luckily because who knows what might have happened if I had gotten out of the car with that tire iron. I'm sure it wouldn't have hurt Lewie; and I might have had to eat the damned thing--or have it surgically removed from some part of my body.
So, there's one of my stories. Got any stories, Lewie? By the way, I'm 6' and 220 these days--haha. All in fun, Lewie. I live in Tucson; work in Phoenix. If you ever get to Arizona, look me up; I'll--buy you a drink.
