My father did not speak english till he stqrted school and then had to quit school and go to work ten hours a day when he was 12. He did not talk to me nor allow much talk in our home---I feel like I had something like mild autism and often, through my life, did not have the words for a situation till recalling it years later. I am also very much my own person. It took me 14 years to earn a batchelors degree because I worked at a job I liked and I only took courses that looked interesting rather than the ones needed for a specific degree.
