Roger's Story

After NHS it was on to Edinboro for 1 1/2 yrs. Then to Tulsa, ORU, where my father had hoped I'd be able to go. Each summer of college I worked in Christian Camps - WLD and Singin River. Married after college to a "farmers daughter" here in Kansas. Worked in Youth for Christ for 5 years after college, then in retail management and insurance/financial services. After a few years of moving we were able to settle down about 30 minutes from Marsha's family. We enjoyed her late Grandfather who lived to 105! He set the bar high for all of us. We have three amazing kids who have finished college. One son and his family live in PA and has our. Our other son and his family live in KC area. Our daughter is married and lives in the Virginia Beach area. We are active in our church and I help Marsha with the kids things (she works in the church full time with kids) and we help lead our home group Bible study. I miss PA and the friends from the FED, NHS and Edinboro. So many helped me through some tough Senior year days. Thank you to those who were there for me. ORU was an amazing college experience with tough academics and incredible intermual sports that fit me to a T. I still get to hang with a college friend, married another one and stay in touch with others. Mom is doing well and has been an incredible inspiration in my life. She lives with my sister Mary in the Richmond, Va area near my brother Bob....Expand for more
She loves God so and serves others as our Christian faith teaches us to do. As we all know that is much easier said than done. My other sister lives in Fairview with her husband. One show I like besides all the sports on ESPN is "The Amazing Race." Seeing all of the world unfold as they travel and watching people interact during some very stressful and sleepless times is interesting. I still cheer for the Wildcats of NHS and of Kansas State Univ. Oh yes, and the ORU Golden Eagles! Life has its twists and turns and I've had to remember how God is with us "through it all." Psalm 121:1,2 and Romans 12:1,2 have been encouraging scriptures for me. My coaches and youth sponsors growing up taught me a lot about dealing with the ups and downs of life. I'm thankful for their influence and pray we are all encouraging the young people God has cross our paths. We live in interesting days, I really realized this as we were driving to PA and I had my laptop connected to a Sprint card and I was conducting business with a client as I was traveling 75 MPH. (a client called my cell phone needing assistance, I was not driving, I'm not that good!) These interesting days we need to inspire young people to enjoy the outside, the friendships, the fun times they can have like we did in Springfield, Albion, Edinboro, and Tulsa. Drop a line anytime my way, I treasure catching up with friends and classmates.
