Roland's Story

Life I started working for Texaco in Midland TX after and marrying a real cute cuddly redheaded nurse from Richmond Va. We proceeded to have 5 little kids as quick as we could to fill my family quiver. I returned to farming after serving in the US Navy. I served 4 years as a Deep Sea Diver and decided I had enought of that life. I soon realized that working in the oil field with one of my old room mates from Tarleton was extremely dangerous and found a nice safe job in Oak Ridge, TN, working with the computers that controlled the atomic reactors, and did quite a bit of research on the moonshot thermoelectric generators that are presently on the moon. I worked there several years, then went to work as a manufactor's rep working on automated process control systems in production plants. I used a twin engine airplane that I piloted myself to the worksites all over the southeastern U.S. After about 8 years of travel I decided to settle down and worked for Ralston Purina as a control engineer and foreman of the technicians that repaired and installed the automation equipment in their plants, where they made concentrated protein for human food addivities. I retired from there and taught for three years at the local community college teaching technicians how to pass their national certification test. So you can see I have had a very interesting, lively life in the field of ...Expand for more
electronics and automation. I presently hold a First Class Radio Engineers License to run radio stations and radar installations, and also have an active Radio Amature Operators License (KD4DWD). I have a wall of VANITY holding all of the awards and commendations for a lifetime of work. I also edited a professional newsletter for engineers for 18 years and have had several articles published in international publications. My latest adventure is to run the sound board at church. We have a 48 channel mixing console. We just built a new church that will seat over 1200, and it will have all of the newest digital equipment and I am really looking forwart to "Sound Engineering that baby" Now for the latest update: I am successfully trading the Stock Market after teaching short courses at the local community college on that subject. I started trading several years ago when I had to make a lot of extra money to take care of my mother. She has since passed away so now am doing it just for fun. That has been going on for the past 15 years. I am not wealthy by the streach of the imiagnition but am having fun anyway. My wife is now crippled with arthritis and I have to spend a lot of time giving her the loving care she deserves. Sometimes it is fun and sometimes it is not, but it is worth every minute spent with her. There you have it all in one package briefly for the past 55 years.
