Roman Meza:  

Roman is from South Gate and Norwalk, California. Roman's schools include Santa Fe High School. Roman later attended Cerritos community college and transferred to the University of California, Irvine. Here, he earned his bachelor's degree in biological sciences and a minor in medical anthropology. Roman proudly represented his family as the first to graduate from college on June 13, 2021. During his time at UCI, Roman had the opportunity to conduct biomedical research for the Chaput Lab. His investigations were supported by the UCI Minority Sciences Program (MSP). As a Chaput lab member, Roman also had the opportunity to mentor and train visiting high school and undergraduate students as well as newly appointed undergraduate lab team members. Roman presented his team's research findings for various local and national conferences. His team's investigations were published in Nature Communications on May 11, 2021. Roman is also a social justice advocate. He has humbly served as a UCI Students Advocating for Immigrant Rights and Equity (S.A.F.I.R.E.) Fundraising/Campaign Coordinator.
