More about Ron:"Born and raised in the Ephrata area, spent a few years in Uniontown,pa close to Pittsburgh,so i became a steeler fan for life! I moved back to ephrata in 1982 to live with my father and stepmom. At that time my dad was racing ESMRA and ARDC midgets, this changed my life overnite. I now new what i wanted to do when i was old enough and until then i was goin to learn everything i could about designing, building, and racing an open wheel car.The next year my dad gave up his midget ride and decided to start building micro's full time, which until then it was part-time and racing at lanco was also for us.In 1983 EMC was born, Eastern Motorcars. after a few years working in the shop we built a car for myself and started racing at Lindas speedway, which was also another venture for my dad, well better put the whole family and many family freinds. when my dad found lindas,it had sat idle for about11 years except for some motorcycle and go-cart races, the story was that bobby gehart had started to make a half mile speedway and the township would not pass the zoning for a big track like that.So bobby walked away,i would have liked to see what he could have done with lindas. So there it sat, weeds waist n chest high, rotted bleachers and the excavated remains of plans to be a dozen years before.I learned what hard work was really like! The following spring we opened, after all the hard work from so many friends. In 1985 i got my anticipated start in driving,i got my first win in september,a week after my sixteenth b-day that same year.In 87 i stopped racing and the choices i was making in life were going very bad,i lost g...Expand for more
ood jobs and friends and FAMILY!.1991 i pulled my head out of my ass and decided to make some changes in my life and right now! I started working at foodcraft equip. co.,using my trade skills learned at EMC and VO-TECH.this was the big boost of confidance i needed bad, then i missed racing very badly and needed to do something constructive.I heard of a chevyII sitting in rothsville for sale and went to take a look at it and fell in love with it after i drove it,it wasnt very pretty but it ran like a cat shot in the ass!I took the car home and started to gut it! and turn it into a drag car. I know everyone thought i had flipped my wig, after being in dirt track racing all my life, but i always loved the hotrod scene and getting back into to dirt racing seemed out of reach due to lack of funds and equipment.See in drag racing you race what u have, you can start in the street classes and work your way into the pro's.If you blow it up,build it faster, for next year build it faster! and before you know it your burning down the quarter mile in single digits, and alot of years go bye, lol. 1993-2002 i drag raced relentlessly, til i decided to buy a house and stopped racing for awhile to save money.I was pretty burnt out from all the racing by myself,it does take a toll on you,so buying a house was a good excuse for taking a vacation from racing.I kept myself busy by restoring my old chevy truck,i started in 2003 and finally finshed this summer.Jan 2006 i moved into MY house, what a great feeling that was.then i started to build a garage for my workshop and toys,my truck had to sit outside wrapped up not completed for 2 years. 2008 i finished my garage and got my drag car back.2009 i started helping a friend out with his dirt car, since he knew very little about them and setting them up.I always knew to myself that i would get back into dirt racing at some point in my life but did not know when...until now. This spring i started to build a dirt car for myself, after helping my friend out i realized how much i missed it and how much fun i was having now again. April 2011 i should hit the clay again, after 25 years im goin to feel like a rookie again. COME SEE ME AT CLYDE MARTIN,AND LINDAS SPEEDWAY!! i cant wait.".
