Ron's Story
I moved to Michigan in 1988. I live in the Northern suburbs of the Detroit Metropolitan Area. I moved here to work at Kmart Corporation's International Headquarters. There I worked in the Information Technology group supporting the computer systems for over 2000 stores. I also worked directly with the store trainers in setting up the computer systems from the wiring to the setting up and testing of the systems in new stores. After 18 years (9 in a store/9 at Headquarters) with Kmart Corporation I decided I needed a change and left the company to pursue other opportunities. I have worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) supporting computer hardware/applications issue for several major companies. r the Airbus A400 military aircraft. Then on to the next opportunity. I worked for DaimlerChrysler for several year working as the liaison between the auto suppliers and Chrysler Engineers proofing the Engineering Specifications for building the car parts. When the economy tanked and the auto industry went South, I was laid off. I was the last one in my department to be laid off. I am now working at Volkswagen Group of America North America corporate office in Auburn Hills, MI. (Learning to speak German at DaimlerChrysler has come in handy!) I am the front-end web admin for a website that the Volkswagen/Audi dealerships access for repair, recall, maintenance information. I also distribute the many different communications that get sent to dealership personnel. Volkswagen is a great company to work for and I am happy here. :-)
