Ron's Story
Used to live on 174th Street, off of Springbrook Rd., on the hillside, just north of what is now the hospital and medical center, in Renton. Both of those streets' names have been changed since then. My dad was an engineer for Boeing. In 1967, partially through my third grade year, we moved to Oregon. The Ponders', Pedaganas', Popes', Crabbs', and Jensens' were all friends and neighbors to my family. Was in Cub Scouts while there. I continued that when we came to Oregon. My parents came from Germany, so we spoke German sometimes around the house. I speak much more now, than I did then. And I visit Germany, and all the family there, as often as I can. I remember people always saying how my parents' had such heavy German accents. It was normal to me, so I got a good laugh out of it! I didn't notice their accents.

ce-in-a-while. I still have the class pictures from my time there. I will find the old class pictures, scan them, and post them here, in case anyone could recognize anyone else in them. I wonder what everyone is doing now?! Mom and I went to St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Renton. And I went to Sunday School at St. Anthony School.
I remember a popular store back then, named "Market Basket". Mom shopped there for most grocery items. Along with a shopping center, with a special metal water fountain in the courtyard, that we always stopped at when we were there. People tossed coins in it, and they went to charity. We tried to toss the coins in the "cupped" parts of it. If we could hit those, we were special! It was also where we went to visit Santa! I often wonder what would have happened, should we have stayed there.
I posted a newer photo of me. I will have to scan and post an older photo from our time in Renton, when I find an individual one.
