Ron's Story

Life Married with grown son, 3 step-children,and 7 grandchildren. Living in Gaston, North Carolina. Retired on January 1, 2005 as Director of Law Enforcement Training at Police Academy after thirty-two years in law enforcement. Returned to work full time as a Paramedic in December 2005 and continue to the present time. I've just filed for Social Security and hope if the economy improves I may be able to stay home and enjoy the grandchildren. School It's unbelievable how much education I received in the Arnold School System. I'm so greatful that I was a part of that generation who grew up in Arnold/Lower Burrell. I remember so much about the people I went to school with and became such friends with during those years. I think about all of you often and look forward to our next reunion. I hope each of your lives have been as rewarding as mine has been. Go Lions! College I never thought of myself as college material until I joined the Air Force and was sent to Tech School. I discovered that with commitment I wasn't as dumb as I thought. After discharge I went to work as a police officer and took advantage of the G.I. Bill ...Expand for more
and LEEAP Program. I soon completed the requirements for a A.A.S. Degree in Police Science and then transfered to a 4 year school, where I completed my B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. In 1984 I was able to finally complete the requirements for a Master Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. I owe my abilities to succeed educationally to the great teachers we had in the Arnold School Sysytem. God bless them all. Military Entered Air Force in June 1961 and assigned to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas for Basic Training. Upon completion of Basic Training was assigned to Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas for training as a Aircraft Engine Mechanic. After completion of training was assigned to Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware and attached to the 1607 Organizational Maintenance Squadron and worked on C-124 Aircraft. Eventually was promoted to rank of Airman First Class and assigned as Crew Chief on a C-124 and traveled with the airplane all over the world. Made frequent trips to Viet Nam carrying supplies, ammunition, and replacements. Usually carried KIA's on homebound trips.

It almost takes my breath away to remember the family I grew up with. Weinee roasts in the woods in Freeport, summer vacation at grandma Mohney's, family reunions at Slippery Rock Falls, fun with cousins, afternoons at the
