Ron's Story
I've had a career in the printing and newspaper business since before graduation from high school and retired as production supervisor for the Moab Times-Independent in Utah. I started with the Times-Advocate and Custom Printery in Escondido. Our family moved to a piece of bare land and developed a little farm in Castle Valley, Utah in 1978 and we just celebrated our 30th year here. Pat and I have three children, Bobby, Dawn (Sissy) and Rhondelle and six grandchildren; three boys and three girls and all are special little children. Before total retirement, I drove the school bus from Castle Valley to Moab and back each day, a job I held for 28 years. Pat also drives school bus and now does my Castle Valley route. I serve as a volunteer fireman in our valley and was...Expand for more
a commissioner on the fire district. I've also served as a Castle Valley town councilman and a Bishop of the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and currently serve as a councilor in the church. In retirement, I continue to write a weekly column for the Times-Independent and fill my days with projects on our little farm. I also like to restore antique furniture and have a 1957 Cadillac Sedan Deville that I am currently working on. We really enjoy the area we chose to live, which provides an endless choice of canyons and trails to explore in addition to the cool La Sal Mountains for camping and fishing. There are also two national parks and a state park all within a few minutes from our home. So we have plenty of things to do to keep us out of trouble.
