Ron's Story
Remember the "twins"? I was bit of a loner in High School. I had yet to figure out that my childhood was a bit dysfunctional. Maybe you noticed I tried some false bravado in Jr. High -- and then the mixed blessing of a strict religion and a small peer group in High School. That did keep me out of trouble.
After TJ in 1972 -- I went to a small Bible College in Dallas (CFNI). After that, in 1975 I worked at Mobil Oil for 6 years. During that time I started at Lamar University in 1978 -- and was married in 1981. I graduated from Lamar in 1987 with a BS in computer science. I embarked on a career in Software -- first at TI in Dallas -- and then as a contractor at many different corporations. It was exciting and humbling. The 1990's were very formative years for the software industry and the emerging Internet -- what a privilege to "be there".
My wife and I divorced in 2008 after 27 years -- no kids -- and one too many expensive "McMansions". I took an early "retirement" package -- mainly because I was...Expand for more
n't sure it would always be available. I have now taken a few years "off" -- but my enduring youthfulness won't allow me to hunker-down -- so I just got an Insurance Claims Adjuster license. My Twin followed pretty much the same path -- except he stayed with Mobil Oil -- and took an early retirement in 2010. We now live as bachelors next door to each other on the Neches river in Lakeview (Vidor).
Living alone on the Neches river, in Lakeview (Vidor) has been a healing experience. We're so blessed here -- near the Big Thicket and the coast.I can hop in my kayak on a whim and take a spin through the cypress swamps. I'm so ready for the "next chapter" now -- whatever that may be. Maybe God will bless me with a mate again -- and we'll share the Claims Adjuster life together. Faith has become prominent for me -- once again -- but not in an exclusive way. I see the heart of people now -- and most everyone seems so much like each other -- wanting and needing the same things. It'll be good to see your heart.
