Ronald's Story
New loved one:
I was blessed to meet a very lovely, special sister-in-Christ (Debbie Banta Sheppard) in April of 2022. We dated for nearly a year and married April 24, 2023. We look forward to whatever life God has in store for us.
Prior 50 years:
Kathleen (Gauder, class of 1970) and I were married June 19, 1971. Kathleen passed from this life July 28, 2021. We have four children and eight grandchildren. We have lived in Tampa, FL, since July of 1988. Kathleen retired from teaching after 22 years at Florida College Academy. She taught science for grades 6-9 for most of those years. I retired from preaching at the end of June 2017 after 42 years. I had been with Henderson Blvd. church of Christ since July of 1988.
We made the big move from Akron to Naples, Florida in July of 1977. I had been working at BFGoodrich in the print shop and Kathleen had been working at Children's Hospital as a Medical Technologist. We moved to Naples with another family to begin a new church. I worked a few years at Naples Daily Newspaper before making the decision to preach full-time. Kathleen started her wonderful work of a stay-at-home mother and wife when we made this move. Our first daughter ...Expand for more
had been born in Akron, and we were blessed with two more children while in Naples.
We then moved to Bartow, Florida in December of 1982. Our fourth and final child was born in Bartow. I preached for West Main Street church of Christ until July of 1988 when we moved to Tampa. All of our children were then going to school, so, Kathleen began teaching at Florida College Academy which is a private school.
We have many good remembrances of Central High School. Particularly our time on the Forge newspaper staff together. We met after a football game when Kathleen was a freshmen and I was a sophomore. We dated a lot throughout our high school years but did not become serious until I was a freshmen at Kent State and she was in her senior year at Central. We decided to get married after I became a Christian in January 1971. Our walk together in Christ held us wonderfully together for 50 years. It is difficult to now be without her, but I am confident she now is with our Lord Jesus Christ. I will walk forward without her as God allows thankful for our time together and blessed with the children and grandchildren we saw come into this world through our love. May God continue to bless.
