Ronald's Story
Life
I have 2 daughters (both married) and 4 lovely grandaughters (2 from each of my daughters). I don't see them as much as would like to as they live in another state, but when I do I spoil them rotten. I have been a past president of the Merrimack N.H. Lion's Club, and twice commander of the Arnold-Heath Memorial VFW Post 5151 in Streamwood, IL. I manage the VFW Post Website and I call Bingo. I have a great time with the crowd every week and with my fellow comrades. Other than that I now work in the Printed Circuit board industry as an Engineer and tend bar at the VFW Post hall rentals.
I grew up in Chicago and moved around a few times as a kid (All within the city limits) I graduated from Prosser Vocational H.S. in February of 1966 (They had mid-term classes at that time) majoring in Electronics. After Graduation I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and made 2 combat cruises to VietNam (1966-1968) on the Aircraft Carrier USS Coral Sea CVA-43. I was rated as an Air Controlma...Expand for more
n and worked in the CATCC. (Carrier Air Traffic Control Center - OC Division) After my 2 tours of duty I was stationed at Quonset Point Naval Air Station and worked in the Control Tower there and at the Charlestown Naval Auxilliary Landing Field until my discharge.
I remained in Rhode Island and was married in 1970 after I was discharged. I was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration and was a Journeyman Air Traffic Controller at the Boston ARTCC in Nashua, New Hampshire for 11 years. My daughters still live in New Hampshire.
I moved back to the Chicago area when my father became terminally ill.
I have two younger brothers, one lives close by, and the other moved to Tennessee. My brother Bob and I do a lot of things together almost every week. We bowl, shoot pool and help each other out when needed. We get together for cook outs and holidays and always have fun. I keep busy with work, my house, the VFW and filling my free time with the things I like to do.
