Ronald's Story

Life I seriously doubt that many from the class of 1975 will remember me, I was fairly 'invisible' during those years. My School years were not the best time of my life. To those who do remember, you will find that I am quite changed from that timid, skinny guy in high school! To those who BULLIED and made fun of me all of those years,,, I hope that you have raised your children to act differently than you did. After graduating H.S. I took a position with First National Bank in Baltimore City. I married Laura Edwards (of Glen Burnie H.S.) in 1975. We purchased a home in Harford County in 1977. In 1978 I was hired as a Service Rep.with C&P Telephone Co. (remember them?) I moved around within the company, took advantage of educational programs offered to employees, and eventually settled into Verizon's Real Estate Division as a Facilities Manager. I enjoyed my job, and I was very good at it, but after 32 years it was time to retire and begin my own Real Estate Investment business . There is nothing better than being one's own boss! Laura and I were divorced in 1986. No one should get married at 18 years old! We all thought that we knew who we were, didn't we? Wow,,, did we have much to learn! As I matured I realized that an 'alternative lifestyle' was what would really make me happiest. I often wonder now how many gay people there were in our class of 1975. Things were so different then. When my sons were in High School it was 'no big deal' and most of the gay students were free to be who they are without the fear. My sons lived with their mother at first but we maintained our close relationship. Eventually they both came to live with me as Laura had become involved in a belief that involves extreme distrust of U.S. Gov...Expand for more
ernment and the belief that the world will soon end. (in other words, she could benefit from some therapy!) Her mental/emotional condition has continued to decline. Several years ago she cut off all contact with both me and our sons. She is now living in the mountains of Arkansas and is a self proclaimed minister and profit. Yikes! She has 6 beautiful grandchildren who she has never seen. If you knew her,, please pray for her. I am very happily "partnered" and Joe and I enjoy our 6 grandchildren, family, friends, Church and our home. Joe and I have been together for 15 years. Our Grandchildren have two grandfathers on this side of the family. They are being raised with total acceptance of diversity. The world will be a better place! Grandchildren are the BEST reward! Currently, in addition to my business, I am the Rector's Warden at our local Episcopal Church. To those of you from my Severna Park Baptist Church, and Young Life Group,,, it took a LONG time to find my church home. 20 years after I was told that I was not welcome in the Baptist Church (gay issues),,, I have found a home in the Episcopal Church. Those signs that you might see,,,, "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You",,,, it means YOU,, And ME too! I hope that you all have found happiness. I have maintained a Close friendship with Bobbie Allen and Carmen Cogar throughout all of these years. Just recently, Donna Ball has joined, and I hope that she will contact me. My "social group" in High School was very small. Most of my friends were from the Severna Park Baptist Church youth group. If you remember me, Feel free to contact me. I am not on Classmates often, however my personal email address is Misterfixit044(at)aol.com. Peace be with Ya'll!
