This is my story and I'm stickin' to it! If I recall correctly we graduated in May of 68 and June 18th I left CB for boot camp...Navy style at Great Lakes, IL. Spent 4 years in the Navy.......actually 3 yrs., 10 mos., 17 days, 13 hrs. and 20 min. Anyway, my first duty station was aboard the carrier Forrestal, which I met in Naples, Italy. We cruised up and down the Mediterranean for just over a year and then I decided to do something really, well.....not very smart! I volunteered for Viet Nam and guess what? They gave me exactly what I asked for! Spent the first 3 months on the Page County, an LST. Transferred to river patrol boats and completed my first tour in a place called Dong Tam......did another tour in Long Bhin. After that the Navy sent me right back to the same carrier I started at and back to the Mediterranean.
