Ronald Stockwell:  

Life I grew up on a Dairy Farm in Newaygo County. Went to Big Jackson Elementary School, which is still operating today. Went to Big Rapids High School 1959 to 1962, freshman, sophomore and junior years. Did not care much for school so joined Mr Massey's Visual Aid so I could get out of classes. Wanted to play sports but could not because of the farm work. I turned 18 in August of 1962 and decided I had enough of this type of life and wanted to see the world so joined the Army. Traveled to places I had only read about in history. I liked the travel and ended up spending 20 years and retired in 1982 at the ripe old age of 38. I had gotten my GED and an associates degree while in the service. Decided to go back to school, took a couple of classes and then when to work for Muskegon County, about the same time I took the Civil Service Tests for the State Of Michigan, Human Resources. Started working for the State of Michigan Unemployment Agency in November 1988 until 1992 when I transferred to The Department of Social Services which I retired from in March 2005.
