Ron's Story
Life:
Diana, my wife of almost 30 years, and I live in Norman with our son, Cameron. Diana is the stalwart of the family, having home-schooled four sons, which includes Cameron who is eighteen and a senior. Cameron plans on either attending O.C.C.C. or O.U. next year. He is interested in art and music.
Donovan, our next youngest son, lives and works in Norman. He is employed at York International/Johnson Controls. He is an amazing bass player who is becoming quite in demand.
Jonathan (Jon),is the facilities manager for O.U. Gymanstics, which has graced him with two NCAA Championship rings. He has two sons, Jacob (Jake) and Noah. They live on the outskirts of Blanchard, OK with their mom, Leesa.
The eldest, Jason, is the pastor of a church in Mt. Pleasant, TX. He and his wife Stacey have three children, Ethan, Blake, and Hadleigh (the only granddaughter so far).
I enjoy art and music, having worked as a professional potter at one time. I hope to soon return to doing pottery as a part-time vocation, or at the least as an active hobby.
College:
Yes, there were lots of all-nighters, but they were not caffeine-fueled. It was, after all, quite an amazing time when we were in college. Of course, I wasn't the same person I was in high school either. I had already hitchhiked around the country and lived in a commune before I even considered going to college.
You know, I don't even remember a counselor speaking to me once about going to college even though my grades were good -- middle B average. I'm sure it was a good thing, or just karma, otherwise I wouldn't have had all the amazing experiences that have shaped my life.

y to attend Oscar Rose. I became involved in campus politics as a diversion and ended up eventually being student body president.
After graduating with an AA in Sociology, I accepted a scholarship to U.S.A.O. in Chickasha (they offered me a job for the summer with good pay and free room & board). I graduated from U.S.A.O. with a BS in Psychology, and a minor in Art - Ceramics.
I took classes in art from time to time for the fun of it. Then in 1997, I went back to U.S.A.O. to get a History degree and a teaching certificate in secondary Social Studies.
College is just too much fun; I'd do it again if I had the money. Perhaps I'd get a PhD in something that interests me; all the while participating in campus activities. You know, writing papers can be incredibly fun if you enjoy the subject matter and the sources.
Work (If it could be called that!)
For the last six years, I've worked as the GED teacher at the United Urban Indian Council in Oklahoma City. It's non-profit agency serving the employment and training needs of the American Indian population of Oklahoma County since 1974. It's a great job where I get to use all the bits of knowledge I learned in high school, college, and everyday life. Additionally, every summer I teach 14-16 year-olds in a program to increase math, reading, and writing skills as well as increase cultural knowledge of the tribes represented.
I also serve on the Native American Heritage Celebration Committee under the auspices of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. We plan the annual Native American Heritage Celebration that is held at the state capitol in November.
