Ronda's Story
How do you condense forty-five years into a few short paragraphs? As for most, my life has been a series of ups and downs, but overall I've lived a charmed existence. I'm blessed with a marvelous partner for this journey, I live in a sweet, little corner of the world called Sonoma and I've been given the rare opportunity to make a difference in this world.
When I contracted Multiple Sclerosis in 2008 I thought my joyful ride was over. It has just started. I made the crazy decision to prepare a dinner every Sunday for as many as I could fit around my table...and I'd keep at it for an entire year while battling the disease. Somehow, through sheer tenacity and grit, and perhaps a smidgen of insanity, I did it. I then wrote a book about the experience entitled "The Gathering Table". That little book launched an amazing career as a public speaker and Ambassador for the National MS Society. I've had the privilege...Expand for more
of helping to raise heaps of money towards a cure, and in the process, I've been able to encourage literally thousands of people to live life wholeheartedly in spite of their challenges. I'm one of the lucky. My disease progression has been slow. I'm still walking, laughing, cooking, drinking great wine and making the most of every day.
I haven't kept in contact with many people from my days at Sylmar High. Oddly, I don't even feel as though I've kept in contact with myself from then. That awkward teenage girl is a bit lost to me; like someone I once read about. I'm hoping that by reconnecting with some of you, I'll find out who she really was and how she influenced who I became.
I'm also hoping to discover that Sylmar High launched others into happy, productive lives. I would love to hear from some of you with whom I have very fond memories. Cheryl, Alice, Lisa, Roberta, Janet, Danny...just to name a few.
