Ronda's Story

Life Class of 66 Update: From Ronda Davidson Steenburgen Pictures are worth 1001 words, so here’s the evolution of the Steenburgen clan. Terry Steenburgen: Terry went to the University of Wyoming and then transferred to Western State College. He played football and was RMAC champion quarterback in 1969. He taught and coached in Fort Morgan Colorado. He began an insurance agency in 1980 and in 1990 got the best job ever; he was the state director of Ducks Unlimited (a wetlands conservation organization). Some of the results of his work included water projects in Delta’s Confluence Park area which continues to be an amazing recreational area for the western slope. There is also a permanent nesting pool near Jackson Lake..The Terry Steenburgen Wetlands Project. His most stellar accomplishment was raising two wonderful sons, Cody (now 35 ) and Casey ( now 31 ). They followed in Terry’s footsteps with athletic prowess and a passion for the outdoors. Terry died in 1994 at the age of 46 of melanoma. He died as he lived…setting an example of courage and gentleness. We were married 25 years. There hasn’t been a moment since his death that I haven’t given thanks for his presence in my life. Steve Bellar was one of the last people who were with Terry before his death and Don & Diane Benavedez joined us in a final fishing trip. He was one terrific man. upational Therapy at the advise of our classmate Joy Allen Bollacker. What a great career it has been. Started a rehab department in Ft Morgan Co. When we moved to Pueblo in 1991 worked for St Mary Corwin and managed a return to work/hand rehab center. After Terry’s death work was my mania and was corporate rehab director for Life Care Centers, Kindred Healthcare and Parkview Medical Center. Corporate healthcare is a crazy environment !! Well, that all changed in 2004 with the arrival of Zeke Terry Steenburgen. After holding that little bundle of sunshine I knew it was time to leave my current position in Las Vegas Nv and reclaim my “home”. I moved to Montrose co as rehab director for volunteers of America here… then got the best title of all… mammy! . Then Cooper T was born and is now 2 !/2. Cody and Sunne are terrific parents. She is a teacher and Cody works with New York Life Insurance. Casey and his wife Jolene, live in Greeley. Jolene is also a teacher & Casey works for Canada Petro. On June 14, 2008 they became parents of Taylor Haley.....she is a beautiful little baby. Mom lives at a nursing home here in Montrose. Dad died last summer. Amazing how our friends from LJHS have woven in and out of the fabric of our lives. “It’s not where you are going on the Red Road; it is about who travels beside you on the journey.” Mato Washata Winan ( My Lakota name: Bear Warrior Woman ) Ronda
