Ronda's Story
Life
I have four children, ages 19, 26, 29 and 38, two granddaughters, ages 17 and 11. It's been a great life filled with a few unexpected turns in the road, helping to build my character, a resilience and joy for all that is in my life.
I am a single mother and until recently was a single foster parent with 15 children in my care (not all at once). My youngest child, Savannah, is in her second year of college, fortunately choosing to stay in Washington state.
Although we have no pets right now, my favorites are frogs, lizards and snakes, with snakes topping the list. I also love horses, cats and dogs.
Some years ago I was a licensed massage therapist with a practice for women, my primary focus on pregnancy and labor massage. I also worked as a doula, working with and caring for women in childbirth. I have also worked in real estate appraising and in the real estate development/construction industry.
Now, after 11 years working at a large credit union in community relations and financial education, I am working as a full time, live-in nanny for a family with one little boy. It's a wonderful change from the high-stress corprate world, I love my j...Expand for more

My greatest joy and accomplishment has been seeing my children grow to be wonderful, kind and caring people, each with a great sense of humor. They always, always make me laugh...isn't that one of the greatest ways to spend life?
I now live in the California Bay Area most of the time, but my employer maintains an apartment for me in the Seattle area and flies me there once a month to visit my family. That helps to make it possible for me to stay in California away from them. Missing family is the hardest part of leaving Washington. After more than 30 years in Seattle, hating the rain but loving the exquisite and lush green, I'm now adjusting nicely to the sunny, warm California weather. It's great.
Have reconnected with a long ago dear friend, Lorraine Grindstaff. A great joy for me to still find friendship with someone who meant so much to me. Way too may years have passed between us.
I'm learning to play the guitar, we'll see if I can teach this old dog new tricks. Hoping to get myself out into the world more and make new acquaintances here in CA, and maybe even some new friends. Try to make a life without my children around. Sigh.
