Rosa's Story
Life
I got married, (fourth and last time) Aug. 3, 2002. I left my job of 25 yrs with Kern County Supt of Schools. I was traveling with my husband across the US with his job. I have 3 sons ages, 33, 29, and 27. The oldest (Steven Thompson, NHS Class of 2000) is married to a wonderful young lady from Georgia. She has a very nice 15 yr old son and they now have a 2 yr old son and a 1 yr old daughter. Bill (29) is married and has a 4 yr old son and a 1 yr old son. Joe (27) is in San Jacinto with us. He is attending Jr College and then wiill be looking for a job either around here or back in Bakersfield in office work. I also have 3 step-children, ages 34, 32, and 29. Jenny (34) is in Reno and happily married. Jeff (32)is in Tulare, CA and also happily married with a little girl now 14 yrs old. John (29) is in CA. My husband is Larry Blackwell. the internet, it really does work. We are now living in San Jacinto, CA and have settled down to living in one place. We are enjoying it here. We can see all but one of our 6 children in a days drive. We enjoy photography and meeting new people.
College
I attended Bakersfield College as a full time working mother, taking 1-2 classes a semester. I finally finished my Associates Degree and graduated May, 2001. I enjoyed all my classes, some more than others. Over the years, it helped make me a more well rounded person. I am now enrolled in Mt San Jacinto College to get my degree in photography.
Workplace
I worked for the county office of education for over 25 years. I worked in various positions during my employment. I worked in accounts payable, payroll, and retirement reporting. Because of my work in retirement, I was known state-wide, in other county offices, the California State Teachers' Retirement System, and the software company which provided the software we used.
