Rose's Story
Military
Boot camp in Orlando (of course), followed by my first school in (near) Chicago. I was fortunate enough to finish right before Christmas break, and was very happy not to have to endure the winter there. I think it snowed pretty good shortly after I left. My first real duty station was in Holy Loch Scotland. I've been wanting to go back as a tourist ever since. I wasn't there for very long, the ship I was stationed on was scheduled to return to the states before I even got there, so I was actually only there for 5.5 months. s said and done. I spent 9 years in Norfolk, VA, 4 years in Silverdale, WA, 3 years in San Diego, CA, then finished out my career back here in Virginia. I was so happy to have gotten to the west coast and didn't imagine with budget's being what they've been I would have ever had to come back here, but here is where I ended up.
I attempted to start college a few times, but finally finished my AA this past summer. Now I'm happy to say that with the Montgomery GI bill I am well on my way to my BA as well and hoping to get into graduate school in the very near future.
I retired from the Navy in April and am thinking about returning to Florida.
