Rose's Story

I am on Facebook as Rosemary Moss Stroud - Wichita, Kansas if anyone wants to friend me. Rose's Life with references(Roger E Moss)(Jerry L Stroud) I left the state of Utah in August of 1966 and came to Kansas just to visit my sister met this wonderful man(Roger Moss) and ended up married after a two month engagement and we have been married for 38 years just prior to his death in January 2005. We have three children Kim (1968) Pamela (1970) and Steven (1972) and from these three we have four granddaughters and five grandsons and one great grandson and 2 great granddaughters. As a family we do spend a lot of time camping and fishing during the spring and fall season the summers get to hot here so we try to get to the mountains during the summer. I worked at Target Dept. Store for 16 years and was the Food avenue team leader and I filled in for the front lane team leaders when they take time off. I was also the district trainer for food ave. so I got to do a little traveling around the state. I was also a board member for the Wichita Women's bowling association and in 2004 we were the host city for the WIBC national tournament . Jan.20th 2005 at 3:45 p.m. my husband of 38 years went to be with our lord. He had been in bad health since 1994 and we thank god that he is not suffering anymore. 11/13/06 I am now retired from Target and I do volunteer work at Wesley Medical Center in the Guest service area two days a week and I babysit my grand daughter on three days of the week. My job involves transporting patients from admitting and I take them by wheelchair (this is what I call pushing them around) to whatever area of the hospital they need to go (xray, CT scan -ect.) I also work the informations desks (I call this telling them where to go) and I work the surgery waiting room. I am also the assistant treasurer for the Wesley Auxiliary and also the treasurer for the Hospital Association of Kansas. While working at Wesley I met a very nice gentleman named Jerry Stroud (he is a widower) and we hit it off and are now married as of 2009 and we have done a lot of traveling together. He was raised in Relience Wyoming and his father was a coal miner just like mine was there in the Price area. My oldest granddaughter (Alexandria) graduated from Rocky Mtn High in Ft. Collins Colorado and also graduated from Front Range Jr. College with a medical CNA degree. She will be going on to become a RN. My other eight grandchildren are all doing well and keeping busy in school and sport activities. This is all for now, I will update if any changes in my life comes up. CHANGES AS OF JUNE 2009: My oldest granddaughter Alexandria got married on May 23,2009 to Colton Stults who is a Marine stationed in California I got married again on June 6, 2009 to a great guy (Jerry Stroud) who was raised in Reliance Wyoming. We met while both volunteering at Wesley Medical Center here in Wichita. We are both still volunteers at the hospital and enjoy it very much. My son and daughter-in-law have adoped a little boy (Kingston)he was born June 29, 2008. Jerry has two children (one boy and one girl) two grandaughters and one grandson and one great grandson. We have added a great-great-great granddaughter ( July 2015) and a great great grandson (February 2019). We are enjoying interacting with them all. Update February 13, 2010. randmother to a little boy named Braxton Michael Stults -- he was born Feb. 12, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in Palm Springs, California. He was 6 weeks early so he weighed in at 4 lbs and 17" long. I am great grandmother - my daughter Pamela is grandmother - my granddaughter Alexandria is the mother and the father is Colton Michael Stults. Update December 5, 2013 Jerry and I are still volunteering at Wesley Hospital here in Wichita, Ks. Went thru a rough year in 2012, the doctors found stage 4 cancer in Jerry while doing a routine check up. He had surgery on Jan 5th for colon cancer, he had a rough time after the surgery. In March of 2012 they started his 12 rounds of Chemo which ended in September of 2012. He had his ups and downs with the chemo treatments and went from 210 lbs. down to 170, but he did not lose much of his hair. He was very weak and tired most of the time also. Then in Nov. of 2012 he ended up back in surgery because his stomach and intestines twisted up and became paralyzed so he went 45 days in a specialty hospital with a feeding tube and IV fluids. He went down to 150 lbs. Everything started working again and he got out of the hospital 5 days before Christmas. He is now cancer free and gaining strength and back to volunteering, his weight is back up to 170 which is just fine with us. We did a little traveling, down to New Orleans, Yellowstone, Virginia City Nv. Conway Ark. We hope to travel some more next year. We will be very busy for the next three years as I became the President Elect for the Hospital Auxiliary of Kansas (HAK) and the treasurer of Wesley Hospital Auxiliary. In 2015 I will become the President of the HAK and still be the treasurer of Wesley Auxiliary as it is a 2 year job. I have plenty of jobs to keep Jerry busy along side of me. Update as of June 2016: I finished my year as president of the State of Kansas hospital volunteers and I will still be on their executive board for a few more years as membership secretary. I started this year as President of Wesley Medical Center Auxiliary and also on the Board of Trustees. I am still assistant treasurer for Wesley Friends social group and secretary/treasurer for our bowling league. By the way this is all volunteer work along with Jerry and I volunteering on our two days at the hospital. Jerry had a rough start this year. In January he fell in the parking lot of the grocery store a broke his hip. Surgery for hip replacement went well but after getting transferred to rehab hospital developed blood clots in lungs and legs so back to Wesley to get the clot busting meds. Three months of rehab he is up and walking with cane, only needs walker when we take long trips with our Wesley friends group. This is my update for now. Jerry and I keeping young by keeping busy. Update December 28 , 2017. I became a great grandma for the second time, Olive Rose Kane was born on December 8th. I finished my two year term as President of Wesley Auxiliary but will continue being on the board. Two years to go as treasurer of Wesley Friends and two years as HAK membership secretary. Update 6-23-2020 COVID 19 put a stop to volunteering, we can’t wait to get back to it. Jerry’s health hasn’t been good, he had total kidney failure and heart failure. He’s now on dialysis 3 days a week and tolerating it very well. We are looking for him to get stronger so we can travel again.
