Rosemary's Story
After graduation, I attended Rio Hondo College for two years. I then joined the Army for two years and served my time at Fort McClellan, AL, where I met my husband. After getting out of the Army, I enrolled in college and earned my BS in biology/chemistry and also became a medical technologist. I also transferred to the Army Reserve, in which I first served as a legal clerk and later as a clinical laboratory officer, and retired in 2000. When my husband retired from the regular Army in 1992, we moved with our three kids to his hometown in rural Kentucky, where we've lived since. I worked as the director of a hospital laboratory until 2000, at which time I quit and started a small home-based embroidery business. I also do some technical laboratory consulting. We live in a beautiful area...Expand for more
near Lake Cumberland. We have a small house on three acres of land and have a large garden and lots of animals. It's so beautiful here and feels like heaven (except when we have too much snow!). Our kids are grown now and we have three granddaughters. We've been fortunate to visit or live in quite a few places, including Alabama, Illinois, Hawaii, Virginia, and Kentucky. Our lifestyle has slowed down quite a bit now, giving us the leisure time to do fun things. My husband loves to grow a big garden and we "put up" most of what he grows. I sew, knit, and embroider, but still work part time in my professional field. I enjoy traveling and I like to spend time with friends and family. I do visit my family in Calfornia every couple of years, but am always happy to return home to Kentucky.
