Rosemary's Story
Life
In case you haven't seen me since HS, here's a brief update. I got my UG degree in the performing arts from SMU, Dallas TX. After that, I spent a number of years singing and dancing in musical theater, various dance companies and Pop/Rock bands. It was a lot of fun! I married a physicist (go figure). In 1983, we moved to the Washington DC area and we've been here ever since.
After moving to Maryland, I went back to school and got my M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Exercise Physiology. I work at the University of MD teaching and doing research on the health aspects of physical activity. For example; childhood obesity, preventing loss of muscle with age, preventing ergonomic (work-related) injuries, etc. I also do outside consulting work in sport, health and occupational fitness for a variety of government, corporate and non-profit agencies. I do a lot of work with Military, Law enforcement, and Fire and Rescue Personnel. Consequently, I travel quite a bit.
I still teach some fitness classes at the local Health Club. (I've been teaching dance and fitness classes since 1970!). For recreation, I like just about any outdoor activity (cycling, hiking, kayaking, wind surfing, skiing, snowshoeing, etc) and I love to dance. In fact, ...Expand for more
last year, I coerced my husband into helping me teach "Survival Ballroom Dance" classes at the club. We had a blast!
I recently signed up for a kickball league, yes kickball! My teammates range in age from early 20's to 42. They think I'm 40 "something". I didn't want to "scare" them - LOL. It's a coed team. The girls are primarily in it for fun, but the guys are pretty competitive (typical). I was a bit worried bc I hadn't played kick ball since I was 14, which was 42 years ago! But, it's amazing how quickly it all comes back - like riding a bike:)
In my personal life, I'm still married to the physicist (Ryan Lindle Ph.D.), no kids, just critters. The newest critter is a feral (wild) cat that I trapped last winter when it was so very cold. At first, he was really scared so he hid under a blanket all the time. Now, he runs all over the house, gets into everything and "pesters" Fuzzy, our old cat º But,we still luv him!
Recently, we bought a beautiful old home with 10 acres on the Chesapeake Bay. The property needs some TLC, so, we¡¦ve been busy renovating, remodeling, and landscaping.
So, that's it for me. Let me know what you're up to. I hope to see everyone back in Oak Park in 2009 for our 40th. Yikes!
