Roy's Story
Life
Retired after 24 years in the Navy, Happily Married, no kids, 2 dogs. Moved to Johnson City, TN June 2002, would love to hear from anyone who remembers me from R.K. Welsh, Lincoln Park, Ellis Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Jr. or High, Auburn.
School
I actually miss all of my school friends most of all. I even miss some of the teachers. I learned how important it was to say Mr. when I addressed Mr. Kierchbaum in swimming class one day... Mr. Kierchbaum was busting someone for something and for some stupid reason I said "Atta-boy Kierchbaum". He made me drop my swim suit, bend over and grab my ankles, and gave me 3 swats with a paddle board and repeated the words "THAT's MR. KIERCHBAUM"
each time he hit me. I became very respectful to my elders from that...Expand for more
day forward. I always enjoyed Walt Taylor for science cuz he let me feed the critters in the class. Mr. Gartner was an excellent math teacher. I was fine till they replaced him with Mrs. Palm, cuz she did not like helping us students like Mr. Gartner did. As for my friends, there are far too many to list and write about all the fun times we had. I wouldn't change any of it for the world. So many fond memories. I really encourage all of you to attend the next reunion. I pray it won't be the last one for any of us, but you never know.
I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a neat idea. As it turns out, they were right.
To rid myself of tension I Grab my AR-15 and fire a few rounds....or just go fishing
