Royce's Story
After graduation I went into the Marine Corps. I was stationed at Camp Lejuene N.C. and was deployed for Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I finished my military Time in 1994 and returned to Bakersfield where I worked and went to Bakersfield College.
I worked for a rental car company and Pepsi. In 1997 I was hired as a Deputy Sheriff for Kern County.
I worked patrol in Wasco, Lamont, Narcotics, Metro Patrol and am currently assigned to Homicide.

nal duties. In my career I've been a Field Training Officer, Report Writing instructor, a member of the Honor Guard, a Defensive Tactics Instructor and an evaluator for the academy.
I got entrapped, I mean married, in 2001 to my lovely wife Rafaela. We've been blessed with an amazing daughter. Mila was born in 2006 and my life has not been the same since. I don't know how I survived without her all those years.
I've been with the Sheriff's Department for 12 years and plan on retiring when I'm done having fun.
