RUBY's Story

In high school I was very much a bookworm and quite nerdy. But I would not change that. There were so many wrong things to be involved in, so being nerdy really kept me from venturing into waters I did not want to charter. Although being very book smart, I did not have much street sense, but I had enough sense to stay out of the streets. I married at age 17, until death did us part (15 years). I have 3 children by my first husband and 6 grandchildren. I am currently married to a wonderful husband of 19 years, Mr. Sammie Barnes, whom I married August 21, 2000. Yes. I am still one of Jehovah's Witnesses (41 years.) As such I have made a few mistakes along the way, but I strive to perfect my faith. This does not end, for there are many challenges to what one believes. For me, I have a mindset which cannot be altered unless I choose it to be. I am usually a very private person, that's why I hesitated to put a story on-line. But I do want persons who are really interested in my life to know that I believe I have chosen the very best way of life: to remain a witness for Jehovah. It took me many years to get where I am. Nevertheless, I have complete confidence in myself and my God. I have learned to make choices in my life with his will and purposes in mind. Most people think being successful in life is having the "big house", the 'great job", and so forth. But having a true relationship with Jehovah is what has given me my foundation for life. rt, life for me would not be possible. Through my studies in the scriptures I have learned to identify with the people whom Jehovah approved of in Bible times. I have observed their prayers, their conversations, their faith, their loyalty to God, their choices in life together with the consequences of their errors etc. I am confident that Jehovah approves of me and the way I live my life. I bask in my spirituality, because it gives me the mental and emotional stability I've needed all my life. Had I really applied the scriptures in my younger years, I would not have made the mistakes that shaped the struggles of my life. As I was once told, life is truly "10% what happens to you and 90% what you do about it". If any of you would like to make a reply and get a response from me. Please do so through the classmates e-mail. I will not reply to any comments made on the message boards for all to view. We all have our personal viewpoints and opinions. The biggest lesson I have learned in life is this: I don't need other humans to validate my thoughts and feelings. None of us think exactly alike, so we have to expect and accept our differences. I ask that any differing views be handled in a dignified and respectful manner. I will not use this forum to dispute my beliefs. You may ask any Jehovah's Witness in your neighborhood or attend any local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for clarification. Just remember "the time left is reduced." --1Corinthians 7:29
