I was a fickle filly! Every year I had a new "crush". The big man on campus usually, whom I didn't know but admired anyway. I was in awe of all the teachers. Mr. Brouse, whose class I did not attend, always frightened me. When we changed classes, he would stand at his classroom door and glare at us. At least, I thought it was a glare at the time. My English teacher, Miss Pitts, said something one day that was to "ring a bell" many years later. Miss Pitts, a maiden lady, said there is an art to living alone. That is badly paraphrased. that living alone can be a shock! As a member of the Denison Alumni Association, I hear stories about classmates' school days. I attended school the same time they did but I never knew all the activity that went on. Some students were very relaxed around their teachers and detention (217) was a joke to them. Detention for me would have never have been tolerated by my mother. My grades were very important, etc. The girls basketball trips were the best. We sang so much traveling to a game, we were exhausted by game time. Win or lose, the games were great fun. Yes, I would do it all again.
