Rudi's Story
At Rimbey HS I was a member of the Spartans Volleyball and Basketball teams. After HS I attended Red Deer College where I was a member of the Kings Volleyball and Basketball teams.
From RDC I continued on to the U of Alberta where I earned degrees in Science and Education. My first job after graduation was as a HS Math, Chem & Physics teacher with Leduc County. I worked for 35 years in K-12 Education in Alberta. This includes 32 years as an educational administrator. My first principalship was in 1976 for a K-12 school in Taber School Div. Appointed as CEO & Superintendent of Schools for the County of Newell (Brooks) in 1987. Retired as CEO/Superintendent in 2006.
In 1979 I earned a Masters degree in Administration from the U. of Calgary. This was followed by a PhD degree in Leadership and Planning from Gonzaga Univ. {Spokane, Wash.} in 1993. In 2008 I accepted a position as Adjunct Professor at Concordia University of Edmonton. Concordia's Department of Public Health. In March 2016 I decided that it was time to retire on a full time basis. We are still active operating a small agricultural business: Country Magic Nigerian Goats plus Country Magic Soaps. Both of these have their own sites on FB.
My partner is the former Chris Fenwick from Bluffton, AB. Chris was a teacher and administrator in Alberta public schools for 36 years. She retired in 2012 as Principal of Thorsby Elementary School (K-6) with Black Gold Regional Division. We will celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary on April 14, 2021.
WE have three children - two sons and a daughter. They have presented us with seven grand children who range in age from three years to seventeen years. "Spoiling" the grand children is now one of our favorite pass times.
