Russ's Story
After HS, started at U of O. Went there a couple of terms. Worked for a while and took some classes at Clackamas Community College. Worked somemore and eventually graduated from Portland State. Took a job in the Phoenix area for a year and then transferred to So. Cal. Worked for various private and public entities in accounting and budgeting. When the recession came along, the County Agency I was with started offering incentives to retire. I was fortunate (right place, right time) and able to take advantage of some incentives and retired 3/09. My wife, Shelley, (she was an elementary ...Expand for more
school teacher) retired three months later. She's obviously a saint for putting up with my crap for what will be 45 years in October of 2022. Now we live in Palm Springs, CA. We travel a lot and have a mostly relaxing lifestyle, with a little golf for me. All in all, it worked out pretty well.
Well, it took several years, but we finally were able to finish our "mission" of traveling to all of the locations mentioned in the Beachboys song "Kokomo." Some were quite fun and interesting and some were not so much so, but it was something worth doing. Now we have to figure out where to next.
