Russell's Story
The 70's were fun, and painful... Enough said. Had a 67 mustang, and got my first motorcycle (Honda 350). In the 80's, I was in the Air Force (1981 - 1987), in the Electronic Security Wing working at the National Security Agency. I ran, played lots of golf, rode in a cross state bicycle ride in Virginia (Bike Virginia II), got my associates degree, and my son was born. Got my 2nd motorcycle (Yamaha 400). I also had my first left knee surgery. In the 90's, I lived in NJ, did corporate computer work, took more college courses at Rutgers University, ran a marathon (Marine Corps marathon 1990), biked across Iowa (RAGBRAI 1993), got married (Shari - 1994). Then... another left knee surgery. In the 00's, I moved to SC, got layed off from the corporate world & then Thru hiked the Appalachian trail (2172.6 miles from Georgia to Maine - See trailjournals.com/hotdog). Sabre 1100). sigh... also 2 more left knee surgeries, a left foot surgery, right foot surgery & a right shoulder surgery. Next I worked retail, selling sporting goods and backpacking gear. Spent a lot of time traveling the country and the World with my wife Shari, we had so many adventures... Sadly, I lost her the end of 2014. Too many recent knee & foot surgeries sidelined my outdoor activities for a while, but I'm working on that. Got my knee replaced early 2015 and am now doing gym workouts & biking to strengthen my knee. I'm getting back in shape, I rode part of RAGBRAI (Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) in 2008 (It was great!) and hope to ride it again in 2016. I'm retired, so I'll be traveling around the USA in 2015 & 2016, hope to see some of you in my travels. Life is Good!
