Rusty's Story
After graduation,I worked Republic Steel as a scrap burner. I left their and moved to Wisconsin. I have worked for the Census Bureau, a woodworker, and for the past 26 years I have been a Deputy Sheriff. Less than 2 years and I can retire, if I want. I have 2 stepdaughters whom are 29 and 26. I also have 2 sons they are 18 and 5. The oldest from my first marriage. I have 2 grandsons. They are 4 and 3 years old. I have survived two heart attacks. The latest one was July 3rd of 2008. My 5 year old now keeps me going. He makes me go on bike rides with him. Every day it does not rain we ride at least 4 miles. It is quite a chore for his little legs to go that far. I have had several dogs,My favorite was also my partner for 7 years. I rescued him from the local pound.He was 1 year old Chocolate lab. I named him Butkus. He was broad and strong like a linebacker. black lab/ Newfoundland Chewbacca and a yellow lab/ Sharpei Luke. They are both rescued from the pound as well. I first saw Luke he was in a house fire. He barked and awoke his owners and they left him in the house. He was rescued by firefighters. The family then turned him over to shelter. When I married Leigh I HAD NEVER HAD A CAT. We now have three. One Calico,named baby,and two Marmalades named Jake and Elwood. I live in the heart of Packer Country, my coworkers try to get me to convert from being a Chicago sports fan, to a Wisconsin fan. I can do it for high school and I do have season tickets for the LaCrosse Loggers baseball. I can not be a Packer or Brewers fan. I love my job, where else can you go 146mph or more and not be in a race car. Deliver babies, practice law,be a master of all trades. My job has been good to me, I plan to try and teach some of the new Officers some of the things I have done to be successful.
