Ruth's Story
After HHS I went to school in NYC, graduated and lived in the City for a few years. In 1972 I went to live in London, England until 1975 when I emigrated to Canada - Montreal precisely and I am still here, despite the winters! My life has turned out quite different from what I thought it would be, and I am grateful for the all the opportunities I have had, and super people I have met along my journey. I hope to go to the reunion in September and see many old friends -and a visit to Long Island after so many years.
One year ago this month we sold our business and I am trying to get out of the working habit after so many years. Truth be told, it is easier than I thought - especially rushing in the mornings! Jacques and I took so few vacations in the past, that we have been travelling a lot and still plan on doing more. So many places to see! ways wanted to see again. It was a fantastic trip and also on a personal best note, good to know I can still hike up glaciers, mountains and lava fields. Not Everest type hikes, but pretty impressive just the same. I hope it keeps on going for us..... My update - Covid hit and here we are, no more travelling, although before the pandemic we did get to travel to many places. Our latest adventure - we bought a cottage on a lake in Wentworth, Quebec. I have lived in cities since 1964, and we still keep our place in Montreal as the cottage, although big, is not full time. It is very lovely and I have never quite appreciated just how beautiful winter can be and so look forward now to summer and to paddling our canoe around the lake or else sitting on the float my sister bought me - it is big and it's a loon! Also will grow a vegetable garden - probably for the rabbits and deer to enjoy, but maybe we'll get a tomato or two out of it!
