Ruth's Story
Lots has happened since the last class reunion. I got married, got my second Masters degree in Human Resource Management, graduated from the US Army War College with a third masters degree in Strategic Studies, went active duty with the National Guard, deployed to Afghanistan for a year (2010-2011), traveled on vacation to Peru where we cruised the Amazon, and just returned from Africa where Pete and I went on safari to Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Saw Vistoria Falls and visited Cape Town, South Africa for several days. After taking military leave from ATK (a defense contractor where I was employed for 20+ years as a manager of industrical security) I went from part-time to full-time Guardsmen. operations and training and eventually retired as BG (DE) from the Guard. Simultaneoulsy I submitted my retirement to ATK. I remain an adjunct professor at Wilmington University where I teach Contemporary Issues in Homeland Security. As retirement is new to me I am getting busy with becoming engaged with veterans issues and spending more time with family and friends. Getting married late, I became the stepmother to two full-grown men who married their wives shortly after Pete and I tied the knot. As a result I am now the grandmother to 3 boys and 1 girl. Looking forward to seeing some folkes and hope that the attendance is good. Since the last update I have retired from full - time employment but serve on several boards. I work part-time as the State Director of the Selective Service (you know the draft).
