Ruth is from Haddonfield, New Jersey. Her schools include Haddonfield Memorial High School, Thomas A. Edison Elementary School, Van Sciver Elementary School, Collingswood High School. She works(ed) at Retired from School District. One of Ruth's favorite quotes is:"1) Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out. Baal Shem Tov 4) No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Aesop Here's one I just made up: A wide smile can narrow the gap between two hearts.". More about Ruth:"I majored in English, minored in theater and psychology at U. of Pittsburgh, and took WSI in Phys. Ed., so, though never a talented sports team member in high school, I taught swimming at a summer camp after freshman year. I got my master’s degree at U. of P., in Secondary English, while teaching half a roster in a Philadelphia High School. After Penn, while teaching, I took a few graduate communication classes in Temple, then lived in Hawaii for a year, working as a copywriter for an ad agency by day, and as a crew m...Expand for more

I had a variety of teaching positions during my 33 years: 3 years as a high school teacher, 15 years as a Homebound and Hospital Teacher, for which position, I completed special ed. certification, and then, when the Homebound and Hospital Program was cut, I landed in a wild inner city high school, as a resource room teacher. After 2 long years, I took the exam for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and happily taught that during my last 15 years in an elementary school. Throughout those years, during the summers, I traveled abroad, did some theater work, including performing at The Edinburgh Fringe, dabbled in art, survived a 7- day backpacking Outward Bound, and even took a house-building course. In retirement, I’m having a wonderful time working in ceramics, sculpture, and all sorts of art media. Now instead of just being an improv actor in a troupe, I’m coordinator of Second Circle Improv Players, "Exploring Issues through Improv." It's actually too much work, and that has cut into my retirement enjoyment, my FaceBook time, and my social life, but other than that...".
