Ruth's Story

I have just moved back to my Home Town, Salem, Va from Naples, FL. Was there 10 yrs and I own a house there and am in the process of getting a divorce after 9 yrs of marriage to what I thought was a wonderful (Italian-Chicago Born & raised-College Educated and he is a great guy, just not good husband material), Frank. I have been thru so much this yr of '09. The end of a marriage in which I really loved this man but he was not good for me at all. One of the best things I have done in '09 was leave him, get connected with a wonderful Dr. in Chapel Hill, NC,where I was living with my youngest daughter Allison Sturgill,and found my 'VOICE'. My oldest daughter Kim died May 23,09 of congestive heart failure-no warning-not sick, just suddenly and that is the worst thing in my entire life to happen to me and our family. But I know I will see her again one day in Heaven and if not for my strong faith in our sweet Jesus Christ I would never have made it thru all of this. I am so blessed to have wonderful friends and a fantastic daughter in Allison (she is mine & Lonnie's child and he died in Nov '83.) ime in my life and own my own business. I now have a wonderful friend in my life who treats me as I deserve to be treated and its because I really worked very hard in learning how not to attract "the users" that I always seemed to end up with. I love my life now. I have my own apartment and am "retired". I enjoy writting, especially childrens storys and hope some day to be published. If its Gods will for me then it will happen. I am a survivor and have great compassion and love for people. I enjoy working in many different things that help people who are less fortunate. I look at today as a "present" and tomorrow is not here and yesterday is gone. I live in the day!! It took me a long time to learn that lesson...but I was always hard-headed, strong willed, and I believe because of low self-esteem, I was a slow learner about real-life. No more. I look forward to hearing from all of my friends and classmates and catching up on your life and happiness or sadness..If I am your friend, I am very loyal. I hate gossip and mean-spirited people and do not have time for them. Life is just to short to be unhappy...so breath deeply and smile and enjoy "the dance" of life.
