Ruth's Story
Whew! Where do I even start? Well... I think everyone in high school knew I got married to Jim Shoemaker (boy was that a mistake - seems like eons ago) Thank God I woke up and got out of that situation when I was still young...not going to BORE you with all that went in-between but I was a "late" bloomer ~ I Had my daughter at 35 and she is now 23 - My hubby, David, was also born and raised in OAKLAND!!!! In my journey of growing up I"ve had the opportunity to live in Kansas City MO, Virgina, (WASH DC) Georgia, and of course back to HOME....California. I"ve been back since 1987. Rachel has been my life-saver and my "grounding" but David made it more complete for both of us. Rachel has been a great kid....good in school, went on to modeling, pageants, Miss Contra Costa, Miss Culver CIty and has competed in Miss California twice. The efforts were well worth the scholorships (extra MONEY for college) Oh, and yes, Rachel and I even got on the MTV "Date Your Mom" !!!!!!What an experience!Rachel has also been on several other MTV shows you may have heard or seen: Exposed, NEXT, and the pilot show of IDENTITY. rse by now - I guess you can tell I'm pretty proud of her. I dont' have any grandchildren and hope that when she is about 28 - She'll make me an abuelita ! (grandmother in spanish - not sure on the spelling)
I've worked in the Healthcare Service field now for ....gosh.... 37 years (boy does time go by) I;ve been working for the past 16 years for John Muir Physician Network in Walnut Creek and totally enjoy what I do. I manage 7 physician offices and am also on the team of rolling out our electronic medical records to all or our 21 offices. On a different note, my two older sisters are in Oregon, only one of my sisters is a grandmother - maybe my other sister will be a grandmother soon.....My dad passed away 16 years ago, and Mom moved to ORegon 5 years ago. I;m still here in the Bay ARea and quite honestly ~ I think I will alway stay here...it's Home! My husband .... went to Castelmont.

So for me....Life is Good-
Well - I am so looking forward to our next reunion and am so anxious to get involved. Let me know if you'd like to get something going so we can get the ball rolling. Looking forward to seeing you all ~
