S.E.'s Story

June 2016, thought I updated about a week ago, seems to have disappeared! I am in the states for a few months, the longest stretch since 2004!! Have been a year in Guatemala, living, having my "kids" in the house with me, Karla who I supported for 12 years, she is now 18 and working doing well, she is beautiful and BI-LINGUAL! Billy and his sister Olga Lorena, they are now 11 and 13, then their mom Telma, who is 30 and I have helped her since she was 13!! What a fun crew, a stretch for my age, but I was up and at it at 6 in the mornings, getting breakfast, making brown paper bag snacks and driving them to school. From there I drove back through Mexico for the upteenth time, been doing that for more than 22 or 23 years lost count! Was in the states ever so briefly and then off to Uganda for my 6th time, where I have other "kids", family, projects. Was there for some months, a bit harder being there , returning to the states, I have been from coast to coast. I had driven to DC area as I fly Ethiopian Airlines, THE BEST , to Africa. So from Florida to Washington State, I have put on about 10,000 miles in a few months. CRAZY! BUT that is my life. JULY, 2015 Have joined back here on Classmates for a year. Have been living this year again in Guatemala and since I wrote SIX YEARS ago, I have been to Colombia, Medellin 4 times, Uganda 4 times. Little time in the states. Will leave here first of November and be just a month in states before going back for a stretch in Uganda. Life IS FULL and for me working for God, there is NO RETIREMENT! Super Busy every day, okay, okay. I do take weekend breaks!! But try to keep up with me! :-) Love and Blessings to you who might read this!! AND yes, the picture I have posted IS recent!! xo September 2009 -- Just got back from working and touring in Ecuador!! Wow what a beautiful country! Drop me a line and I will get back to you!! Blessings cover you! Believe this or not, I AM in Vietnam!! Today is the 1st of February and I have been here a week in Sai Gon. Tuesday I leave for the north and will be in Ha Noi for about 10 days!! Very amazing place and time! December 2008, MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Wanted you to know that I AM going to VIETNAM!! I know, I know, one of my classmates said that was a dirty word to most of us from the era of the Class of '66!! And during the time, I left the country as a political exile!! BUT times change...Expand for more
s and hopefully you mature and see events in a different light. I am proud of all the boys who DID go to Vietnam and fight and some of our own class died. IT was a hard, hard time. Believe me I am not happy how the country is, BUT many of the people are lost without a knowledge of God and His son Jesus, the Christ. I will go just for 3 weeks and am carrying in literature, Bibles on MP3 players, zip drives and CD. Thought you might like to know!!! UPDATE October 2008 After FOURTEEN years living in third world Central American countries , I am BACK in the states!! WILD!! AND I have an apartment in Albuquerque , New Mexico. This is the second place I have had in the mainland USA since leaving it wayyyyy back in 1970 !!! I am STILL a missionary, but will be going to harder places, closed countries, socialist, Hindu, GODLESS!! Short term, in and out for a few weeks to a month. Drop me a note! I can now easily call and be in touch while I am in the states and will be traveling all over too. Upcoming trips to Texas, Virginia and D.C. Blessings cover you!! s.e. *************************************** Life I've been a missionary working in Central America for over 12 years now. IT is rewarding and challenging. Living in a third world country can be frustrating, but fascinating. While in Belize I help start up the first Christian radio station back in '95 I think it was, maybe it was '94!! Then I lived in El Salvador just a few years after their war. That country has really come back in the last 10 years. I've been to all the Central American countries and YES I have driven down to Panama and back. I've been to Cuba 3 times and that is a fabulous place. I say IF the country would ever open up, I would love to live there. Here in Guatemala I teach English in a small Christian school and I support children and families. Education I beleive is sooo important after acceptance of the Gospel Message. Right now I am focusing on older kids to get them through school. I have one "boy" 22 years old who didn't have education past 6th grade. I got him into a program for mature students and this year he will receive a degree in science and letters with a diploma in computer. I DO normally make it back to the states once a year for a few months. When there I travel from coast to coast. From Oct-Dec '06, I was in Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Missouri, Georgia & Florida. I put on the miles.
