Sally's Story
Life
Life has been a blast!
Went to Edinboro Univ. for 5 years. Studied Education and Sociology. Moved to Venice Beach, California with my then boyfriend, now husband. We were married in Venice in 1985. Settled down in Santa Clarita in sunny, sometimes shakey, Southern California.
Have three kids; Nick-15, Sage-12, Samantha-9. Proudly took a long time off from a career to be with the kids and became a more fun if not a more interesting person.
I now teach Reading to at-risk (Title 1)4th,5th and 6th grade students, part-time in a local public school.
I have tons of interests. I have two, two hundred pound(each) Newfoundland dogs that do therapy work. I take them to visit sick kids in hospitals, and group homes. They pull a cart.
I advocate for children in much of my volunteer work. Write back and ask me about it sometime.
I take classes here and there to keep up on my skills and to keep connected to our ever changing world. OK, the truth is I love the nostalgia of college and keep going to pretend I'm young again.
Mark,(my husband)is a Geologist. That makes him great to travel with. He plays ice-hockey and rides mountain bikes and skii's with my kids every winter.
My kids are very cool people. Nick plays football and hockey, Sage plays the bass, Sami rides horses. I drive A LOT! Sound familiar to any of you?
But mostly they possess some beautiful and genuine personal characteristics that will make them phenominal adults. I like them a lot.
I still go to concerts(seeing Peter Gabriel this Wednesday 12/11/02) and plays and museums and I love independent and foreign f...Expand for more
ilms. We have lots of parties here at my home for both the kids and adults. We turned off our cable & TV for good 7 months ago as a family experiment and we have found out alot about ourselves in the process. Don't know if we will ever turn it back on. We love to jacuzzi every Sunday morning while we read the newspaper and drink a mocha latte, half a shot of vanilla, no whip. ".." I know, I know, sounds very California. Our house is always open if you'd like to visit the wild west!
Haven't been back to New Jersey since 1983. No family there anymore. My sibs are all doing great. Steve, my oldest, is living in S.C. and is married to Tama Parish and has three daughters, one of them in college now. Brian and his partner Bernie, have three wonderful adopted sons, and is living in San Francisco. Constance is an honored Science teacher and is married to Pat Smith and living in S.C.. Eddie is married to Crystal, has three sons and living in Arkansas, And Kathy is married to Tracey and they have two sons. They too are in S.C. My Dad is living with them also. My Mom died while I was a college student, so the family all kind of went their separate ways. But we stay in touch the best we can.
I would love to hear from all of you. I fondly look back to those care-free days in H'town. I recall them more often as my kids get older. Nick is his class clown. I don't know where he gets it from!
Write to me, K? Until then, wishes of peace to you and yours.
