Sally's Story
Hello everyone from class of 1968 and some from 1969. I relocated to Chattanooga, TN in 1993 and I have no regrets. My husband and I are retirees and we have recently downsized into our retirement home. We love the south and all the beauty that is exhibited here throughtout the four seasons. We have a good life, good friends, and we are truly blessed. I wish the same for all of you.
Recently, hubby, myself, and tihis wonderful couple who are friends of ours went on a Carribbean cruise. We had an awesome time. We met our friends in Puerto Rico, which is were we boarded the ship. We sailed to the islands of Curaceo, Dominica, Aruba and St. Thomas. We enjoyed the stateroom with the balcony. It could not have been any better! Traveling with friends made the trip so much more fun! We are doing it again as soon as possible. Valentine Day in ...Expand for more
2011, I will not soon forget.
On Friday, May 27, 2011 - Sunday, May 29 2011, I attended the Colored Schools Reunion in Cheraw, SC. For those of you who don't know, I attended elementary school in Chesterfield, SC. I started at the first elementary school built for blacks in Chesterfield, SC. I was in the first graduating class. I shared this honor with some very special classmates with whom I have remained close during the years. Edwards Elementary was named after one of these special friends grandfather. I did not know this before. So this reunion is in honor of those who attended colored only schools in this area. The schools did not integrate until 1968, the year I graduated from high school in San Bernardino, CA. Imagine that! It is hard for me to. The reunion was fun, well put together and I am looking forward to the next one in 2013.
