Sam's Story
Life
My Spouse
Met her through a co-worker in the military when I was a Minuteman Missile Crew Member in the not so great state of North Dakota.
My Pets
Our dog is great, but, we did not want a dog. Originally it was our son's dog but, of course, he was too busy to take care of it. So now there is no way to give her up. She is part basenji and part mut... we got her while stationed in Okinawa. She is the only dog I have ever come in contact with that will let you take food right out of her mouth. What a sweetheart. Ive had dogs before, but never one like this. She's a doll.
College
Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of West Florida with a BA in Psychology in 1981. Recieved MBA in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1994.
Workplace
Since my retirement from the military in 2003 I have been a Defense Contractor with Northrop Grumman working in the Plans and Policy Directorate at US Central Command. I work in the Disaster Preparedness Branch and I concentrate my efforts in the Central and South Asian region commonly known as Âthe Stans whic...Expand for more
h includes the countries of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Our focus is providing seminars, workshops and other events to promote the advancement of disaster preparedness throughout the region.
Military
I spent 21 and a half years in the US Air Force including 2 years enlisted as a Minuteman Missile technician in Montana. Following Officer Training School I then spent 7 years in North Dakota on Missile Combat Crew Duty and as a Maintenance Officer. Changing career fields in 91 to Supply drew assignments in Biloxi, Okinawa Japan, Illinois and culminating in my very own squadron command at McChord AFB, WA. Finally I had an opportunity to get back to Florida in 2000 as a Desk Officer at US Central Command for the countries of Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. After some challenging years following 9/11/01 I retired as a Lt Col in 2003 only to return to CENTCOM as a Defense Contractor (civilian) six weeks later. I have now been a civilian for a year and a half and IÂm happy to still be working for the government and Central Command.
