Sam's Story
Life
Made prudent investments in the 80's and retired at 38 to enjoy life, was married for 21 years to Sheila (a Texas native girl), we have one child; Bill, who was born in 1987! Bill and I are living in the family homestead in Texas where he is the 4th generation Boger in the house! I enjoy restoring Cushman motor scooters as a hobby. Bill just turned 15 - which proves God knew what He was doing when He gave children to YOUNG people - now I see why some creatures eat their young!
School
It' just a damn shame that we have to get older to get smarter....... I wish I had been a lot more open in my relationships, both with friends and family during my High School years. It seems like I was always trying to be something I wasn't (usually the "Class Clown") in order to prove myself somehow - now years later I've found that we all are what we are, and our best "se...Expand for more
lves" is our natural one. Now I try to "walk the walk" as well as "talk the talk" - and I'm a much happier person for it! - Sam
Workplace
I always enjoyed a challenge when I worked as an Administrator for an offshore-owned corporation. I was primarily employed as a "Transition Expeditor" (which is corp-talk for "Streamliner" or "Hatchet Man") - I was the guy who came in, evaluated and "downsized" companies. Most of the time I was able to restructure a business without wholesale terminations, resulting in better profitability. Those who couldn't get a grip on "the big picture" were usually the ones to go - those who stayed were normally better off. Lots of commuting, little family time, good pay and networking were the rewards.......... if you can call them that. Now that I work for myself, I can relax and "smell the roses" a lot more. Refreshing!
