Sam's Story
Life
I finished my undergrad degree at CU (Colorado U, Boulder), after marrying Shirley Nightingale, and then went on to get a PhD in chemistry from UC Sta Barbara. We both taught at Antillian College in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, for half a dozen years (seemed MUCH longer!) before returning to the states so Shirley could get her PhD in linguistics. I digress to say that Ms Nightingale now lives in Saudi Arabia where she teaches at the women's university in Makkah. Obviously, we are no longer married!

rsity of Florida, followed by a stint on the chemistry department staff at the University of Utah. From there I moved to Portland, Oregon, and worked for a startup company that made chemistry modeling software. Since moving to Oregon I've re-married, and now work in a company that makes specialty sensors for the semiconductor processing industry. This is a lot different than teaching undergraduate chemistry, but at least it pays the bills. Gayle has two grown sons, and we now have 3 grandchildren. My main hobby is singing barbershop harmony as a baritone or bass.
